An Expanded Dream

Oh what fun it was to take down walls and open up the space to create an expanded dream kitchen! So much light now floods this huge kitchen, highlighting the crisp white cabinetry and newly installed warm toned floors. The concrete-colored quartz countertops perfectly ties into the brick-look tile backsplash.

Functionally, we added a gas line for the new cooktop, vented the hood to the outside, included a micro/oven combination, counter depth refrigerator and bonus beverage cooler. All new LED lights at the ceiling and under cabinets. A warm gray paint keeps it neutral and ready for the client’s to add their personal touches.

Client Kindness

Our house was built in ’86 and had not been updated since. The kitchen still had the same cabinets that were builder grade and original to the house. It was time and Dee was recommended by a friend who had used her for their kitchen renovation. Our neighborhood has a GC that everybody loves but they took forever to get back to me and then their quote was inline with Dee’s. The massive difference between the two was that Dee actually does the design, ordering, scheduling, followup, clean up, the list goes on! At no point during the process did we question what was going on. She was on site every day to ensure everything was completed to her standards. We stayed in the house during the renovation, with our geriatric dog and Dee made sure that all of the workers were aware and cleaned up after themselves as much as possible. If they didn’t, she went behind them and made sure it was safe for him to walk around the house. He ended up passing away during the process and she pushed the schedule back for us so we could spend some time together as a family. She even brought us a rose bush to plant in his honor. The entire process was exactly what we needed, personally and professionally.

Designwise, it exceeded expectations. We aren’t a fussy family and with two kids functionality is key. The kitchen has really brought us more together and is much easier to spend time together than we could before. The kids used to retreat to their own space before but seem to stay out with us now which is a blessing and a curse! I have a design, but pulling together all of the pieces together is not a strength of mine so I truly appreciate that Dee was able to assist with that. We put new flooring down for the entire house and Dee was able to come out and meet me to make sure it fit within the design of the house. We found a backsplash that we wanted, she placed the order and then about two weeks before we were supposed to start the renovation, she found out that that the materials weren’t going to be available. She immediately went to work finding an alternative that was available immediately, that would still work with the look that we wanted. It turned out beautifully. Everything was on time. She told us how long it would take and she was exact on what she told us. I expected and had been told it wouldn’t happen in her timeline…it did. I imagine it would have taken twice as long had we gone with the GC.

Dee is great at what she does and very open to suggestions/recommendations. I felt very comfortable with her and her team. She kept us updated on all timing and any issues that came up. We will absolutely use her again and fully intend to for future bathroom renovations!
